Hope Chapel was founded by a group of young people led by Craig and Kathy
Englert, Jason and Toni Spence, and Craig and Chris Mauck- it’s a story of
how God miraculously works through people to accomplish his purposes. In
September of 1980, Hope Chapel held its first service in the living room of one
of its founding members. We’ve grown significantly since that first service over
40 years ago, adding new members and ministries over the years. In 2006 we
moved into our permanent home on 18 beautiful acres. The very first intern
class was welcomed in 2000, with over 150 interns graduating our intensive
program. Under the vision of our founding pastor Craig Englert and lead pastor
Ben Prangnell (who's also a former intern!), we strive to share the love of Christ
with the people of Maui.
